Nate Busko has spent 12 of his 17 years running from his past

Tired of being bounced around from foster home to foster home, he now lives in his car, eats corn husks, and uses track practice as an opportunity to shower.

Alone, he’s haunted by fragments of traumatic memories from his past

By nightfall, he couldn’t have been more different from the confident, cocky persona he once wore at school.

Enter Stan Deen, a popular high school drama teacher struggling with his own issues

He sees Nate’s latent talent and need for care and guidance where no other teacher has, and steps in to help.

But in a surprising turn of events, Nate is arrested in the middle of school and taken away in handcuffs

Stan follows Nate to the police station and not only arranges bail, but agrees to take Nate into his home, despite the raised eyebrows he receives from his fellow teachers.

Stan is willing to do whatever it takes to help his struggling student
