Plot

Art the Clown will unleash chaos on the unsuspecting residents of Miles County as they fall asleep peacefully on Christmas Eve. Director Damien Leone said that several major studios expressed interest in financing the film based on the surprise success of Terrifier 2 (2022), even without a full script, but he turned them down because he was certain they would never let him film the opening scene alone, which he describes as “very controversial.” Leone commented that the only reason he can be so uncompromising in his depiction of horror and gore is because he finances his films independently, creates all of his own special effects to keep costs down, and doesn’t have a major studio hot on his heels to make the film more popular. Mia mentions that it will soon be the 5th anniversary of the original massacre, but it took place on Halloween, and the film takes place on Christmas 5 years later, meaning the anniversary was only 2 months ago.

You’d think anyone who watched the third Terrifier movie would know what to expect from this film

In each sequel, the kids go to camp (or New York, or space LOL) and get killed in increasingly creative ways. That being said, there is no real plot beyond Art being on a Christmas killing spree; this time he is accompanied by Victoria instead of the Little Pale Girl from the second film. While the entire film is probably the most pleasing to the eye (the Christmas aspect looks great and the blood/effects are more realistic), I prefer the raw and brutal feel of the original.

There are some very creative kills – to the point where you wonder who even thinks of them – which adds to the shock value and dark humor that fans will appreciate. There is not as much fantasy and supernatural aspect as in Terrifier 2, which I didn’t like anyway, so this film is a nice return to form for Art and his victims. A good opening sequence with a lot of tension, plenty of screen time for Art’s antics, a good climax, and an ending that sets the stage for Terrifier 4 (which has already been confirmed).
